To qualify for admission into a South Carolina BSN program the student must have a GPA of 3.0 and a C average in their prerequisite courses. They also must have completed 3/4ths of their required science courses. Plus, they need to provide three references and an essay.

South Carolina has an option for students who wish to complete their BSN degree in less time. The Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing program can be completed in 16 months. It is a full time program containing four consecutive semester programs to give students the background knowledge needed to become a licensed Registered Nurse.

The accelerated degree students spend time in local medical facilities in addition to studying in the classroom. They gain hands on experience working with patients and other nursing professionals. Upon completion of the program the students are expected to have the knowledge and skills necessary to become a nursing professional in a variety of health care settings.

After completion of the accelerated degree program, the student must be licensed. After completing a BSN program, students in South Carolina are expected to receive and maintain a nursing license. To qualify for licensing they need 30 CE hours from an accredited Continuing Education Provider, proof of completing a BSN program from an accredited school, or, verification from an employer of their competency and completion of the required number of working hours.
