Education Requirements for LPNs in North Carolina

LPN classes in North Carolina must provide every student with sufficient clinical experience and classroom lecture hours so that they can pass the NCLEX-PN examination and perform the necessary job functions of an LPN. Students should also be CPR certified prior to submitting an application to any LPN training program. They should obtain a passing score for their Test of Essential Academic Skills. Every school has its distinct course requirements and prerequisite subjects prior to commencing the core nursing curriculum. Basically, a student should have accomplished a single semester in college with a subject of Algebra, computer literacy program and any other programs the school requires prior to entering the course. Most schools will also need the student to retain a GPA of at least 2.5 from the semester prior to enrolling in an LPN program.

LPN students should also take basic education classes over the duration of the program. Nursing students should consider taking writing courses to build solid communication skills. A subject in Psychology is also a prerequisite subject for many LPN students in North Carolina.
