The nurse manager is responsible for coordinating patient treatment assigning different tasks to the nurses within their department. Managing the staff of nurses for a care facility involves supervising nurses, recruiting new nurses, conducting job interviews and performance evaluations. Nurse managers must also take care of the daily tasks of scheduling, assigning duties, handling paperwork, keeping patients medical records and taking disciplinary actions against employees. The nurse manager is also responsible for ensuring that their department remains within the budget and that all patients within their supervision receive the proper care. They must also keep up with departmental or facility-wide policy changes and ensure compliance within their department. This is a management position and requires strong organizational skills, leadership ability and clinical nursing knowledge.
