By becoming experts on one particular area of the human body pulmonary care nurses are able to provide highly specialized treatment to patients experiencing problems with respiration. Pulmonary care nurses can be employed in a variety of setting including community clinics, large hospitals, private doctors offices and home health care. They are responsible for helping their patients understand the nature of their condition, what the treatment options are and what they can expect in the future. They also provide counsel to patients families and help them better understand the condition their family member is suffering from.
