There are a number of Oklahoma LPN Programs that are offered online, but there are a few things that you should keep in mind while shopping for a good online program. It is sensible to consider online educational options and alternatives, especially if you’re currently working. But there are programs out there that aren’t acceptable by many State Boards, and so you have to be aware of the various organizations and governing companies that are involved in licensure throughout not only the State of Oklahoma but the United States as well. The Oklahoma Board of Nursing (OBN), like most other state boards, will require your NCLEX exam results. So you want to make sure that the online program that you’re looking into will prepare you for the NCLEX-PN exam. Also, you can’t complete all of your basic nursing education online; there has to be a practicum piece as part of an LPN education program. This is because the OBN will require you to prove that you’ve satisfied your practicum hours before they even consider allowing you to sit for the state licensing exam. If the online program doesn’t tie into a hospital or healthcare facility in which you can fulfill these hours, then you’ll definitely want to move onto another online program. A good place to start is with traditional institutions, such as nursing schools, colleges, technical schools, vocational schools and private educational institutions. You could visit the website of each school and to search for online counterparts to the classroom courses that are offered by the college, university or nursing school. At every step of the way through the LPN educational and licensing process, you have to keep in mind the state and federal requirements for licensure, as licensure is your ultimate goal. You cannot practice as an LPN without a license. Keeping this goal in mind will not only affect the kind of decisions you make about Oklahoma LPN programs but will also affect what state you wish to complete your primary nursing education in as well. |
