In this competitive global environment, most career experts are advising people to go back to school and learn more skills. This will enrich their resume and increase their chances of getting a job in the current congested job market. However, most people find it hard to quit their jobs and go back to school since they still have many financial obligations. A perfect solution for people willing to advance their education is the Wisconsin LPN programs that will open up many employment opportunities.

Many economic experts predict that the healthcare industry will continue growing, so a career as LPN is highly marketable. Nurses and doctors make the most crucial decisions about patients’ treatment plans and diagnosis in hospitals, mental health facilities and nursing homes. However, the LPNs take care of the patients’ daily needs and most healthcare facilities depend on them. LPNS perform duties such as administering medicines, giving injections, checking the patients’ vital signs and scheduling appointments.

In Wisconsin, there are two LPN programs. You can either choose the associate degree program that takes two years to complete, or the diploma program that takes one year. The choice of the LPN program to pursue is determined by your future plans. For example, If you want to pursue a BSN, you will take a shorter time to complete the program if you choose the associate degree program rather than the LPN diploma. The beauty of Wisconsin LPN programs is that they allow you to specialize in any nursing specialty such as pediatrics, psychiatry, obstetrics or surgery. There is no need to quit your job to attend college as you can take online classes during your free time.

LPN programs in Wisconsin consist of three parts—clinical practicum time, laboratory time and classroom instructions. Some of the common areas covered by most LPN programs in the state include basic nursing skills, sampling techniques, lab procedures, medical and nursing terminology, basic patient care, infection control, standards of practice pertaining to LPN and medication administering, side effects and interactions.

To enroll for an LPN program in Wisconsin, all you need to be at least 18 years old and have a high school diploma. You must also have no past criminal history or drug abuse issues as a thorough background check is carried out before enrollment. The program only takes one year to complete, after which you can apply for LPN licensure. The licensure is granted after you pass the National Council Licensure Exam offered by the Wisconsin Board of Nursing. You can apply for the licensure exam from the board’s website and upon passing the exam; you will become a certified LPN.
